What is collagen?
Everyone seems to be speaking about it or maybe the lack of; we decided to give you the inside track on what collagen is how it affects your skin.
Collagen (pron.: /ˈkɒlədʒɨn/) is a group of naturally occurring proteins found in animals, especially in the flesh and connective tissues of vertebrates. It is the main component of connective tissue, and is the most abundant protein in mammals, making up about 25% to 35% of the whole-body protein content. Collagen, in the form of elongated fibrils, is mostly found in fibrous tissues such as tendon, ligament and skin, and is also abundant in cornea, cartilage, bone, blood vessels, the gut, and intervertebral disc. The fibroblast is the most common cell which creates collagen.
In muscle tissue, it serves as a major component of the endomysium. Collagen constitutes one to two percent of muscle tissue, and accounts for 6% of the weight of strong, tendinous muscles. Gelatin, which is used in food and industry, is collagen that has been irreversibly hydrolyzed.
Got it? Do you understand?
Let’s make it clear!
Collagen is a protein that supports most tissues and gives cells structure from the outside. It’s extremely strong! It is what keeps our skin strong, firm, full of elasticity and helps with renewal of skin cells.
Young people have smooth, firm skin, as we age, collagen production slows and the skin cells weaken, and the aging wrinkles begin to show.
What can you do?
There are supplements in liquid or pill form; however, there is a discussion on whether supplements are effective. Also, there are known side effects from oral collagen supplements. They could be dangerous if you have any food sensitivities. Collagen creams are available; however, it is not absorbed into the skin easily if at all with a topical cream.
Collagen injections will fill in your skin, but it is not permanent and is evasive.
What will work?
WISHPro has a treatment that works and with results that will amaze you.
The WISHPro Rejuvenation Technology head uses 660nm light proven technology that activates dermal fibroblasts. By activating the fibroblasts, the skin is stimulated to increase production of collagen and elastin.
This treatment is recommended to use with the Collagen Infusion capsule. This capsule moisturizes and creates an external collagen barrier. The key ingredients in the capsule are Collagen, Dunaliella Salina Algae, Vitamin C, Dead Sea Minerals, and Olive Oil.
After only a 15-minute treatment, you will see the results. Your skin will feel smoother, fuller and look younger.
Synoia Technologies wants to make it official:
Applied to Guinness World records requesting to attempt to set a record for the fastest anti-aging treatment in the world
The WISHPro device incorporates the Magnetic Infusion Technology (MIT) that creates a magnetic field .This magnetic field is partially converted to Microcurrent, Red LED, Blue LED, or Magnetic Pulse technologies using the different technology heads,
and together with the serum-infused treatment capsules, MIT penetrates the active serums into the skin .
Magnetic Infusion Technology
The Magnetic Infusion Technology is based on the physical fact that identical repel: A positively charged ion in the magnetic field forcibly pushes a positively charged ion from a serum into the skin. MIT creates a rotating magnetic field so that there is a constant barrage of charged ions reacting with the serums. The rotation of this field ensures that as ions “bounce” off of the serum or the skin, they are constantly sent back until full penetration into the skin.
The unique combination of the MIT technology with the personal serum-infused treatment capsules delivers unparalleled results – The WISHPro delivers significant visible results for anti-aging or rejuvenation treatments in just15 minutes. Fine lines and wrinkles are reduced instantly.
The WISHPro challenges long term anti-aging treatments in the market where results are seen after 5 or 6 treatments and now Synoia, the developers of the WISHPro, are looking for world recognition as “ The fastest anti-aging or rejuvenating treatment in the world” with results being visible after just 15 minutes.
Ayelet Mofar:” Attempting to set a Guinness World record is a great way to demonstrate the dramatic speed the WISHPro and we hope our request of the attempt will be approved”.
Synoia will be at Cosmoprof Bologna between March 8th to 11th in Hall 19 Booth 19M, with live demos of the WISHPro system.
The American WISHPro Team will be in Chicago at Face & Body Show on March 9th to 11th Booth 6314 & 6315.

Recently we participated in an interesting conversation about mobile spas. Everything is going mobile so why not spas?
However, there is a lot to consider before opening up your own mobile spa or salon.
State and City Regulations For Mobile Spas
Many states prohibit cosmetologists, estheticians and nail technicians from performing services outside of a licensed place of business. So check the rules with your local laws for mobile spa services and check the spa licensing boards for more information before you invest!
What services are you going to offer?
It really doesn’t matter where your business is, on a main street, in an RV parked in suburbia, or in your clients home/office, you must decide which services you are going to offer. Who is your target market and what services do they need is the question you should be asking yourself.
If you are an esthetician, you will want to include all of your skin care protocols, including a deep cleanse, anti aging treatments, Microdermabrasion, peeling, and various technologically advanced treatments.
You also might want to add more services such as waxing, manicure and pedicures so that you can offer your client a one-stop shop.
In House or in an RV
Whether you are going to bring in your equipment to the clients home or office or park your RV in front of their house you have to think about the equipment you purchase and how portable and compact it is.
- If you are going into someone’s home, you are going to be doing the schlepping.
- How much equipment are you going to take with you?
- How many cases filled with ingredients and machines?
- How many electrical plugs will you need?
Why WISHPro Is A Perfect Solution For Your Mobile Spa?
Integrating 4 different technologies into one interchangeable compact handheld device that works with 7 different serum-infused treatment capsules makes the WISHPro system the perfect compliment to any aesthetic practice. Aestheticians save space, time and money while delivering immediate results to their clients.
Why go mobile?
Most professionals who decided to go mobile say it was because it gave them freedom and flexibility.
- Book appointments around your private schedules.
- Less overhead cost – rent, utilities, maintenance
- It’s your business!
- You decide how to market your business
- More available time for courses, new product launches, and spa seminars.

With so many skin care regiments available, it is difficult to know which one you should do, which treatment you should do often and which you should do maybe seasonally or yearly. First, your aesthetician should be able to write out your “prescription” for the next 6-12 months to make sure that you have beautiful young fresh looking skin. Part of your regiment should be peeling to rejuvenate your skin.
What Is Peeling?
It is just like peeling a vegetable to take off the skin, on your face it removes a layer of dead skin. Once the layer is removed, any dirt that has built up is gone and your skin will feel rejuvenated as collagen production is
What Types Of Peelings Are There?
A chemical peel is a fairly invasive procedure and should only be done by a professional. Depending on the type of skin and what needs to be treated (acne, discoloration, wrinkles) a combination of chemicals is brushed on the skin. Some of the chemicals used in this peel are glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, or carbolic acid. The skin then reacts to the chemicals, blisters, dries and flakes off. Usually your skin will be red for a few days, and it might itch or burn.
Dermabrasion is probably the most invasive type of peel. It is a surgical procedure, and should be performed only by a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon. Once again, it is a procedure that removes the top layer of the skin, helping to diminish scars, patchy skin, acne scars, or to smooth fine wrinkles. It is also used to remove pre-cancerous growths. The doctor uses a brush or a diamond wheel to remove the layers of the skin. It can take up to 6-12 weeks to have the redness and swelling go down and have your new skin showing.
This method of peeling is the least invasive and is a non-surgical procedure. Again, it peels away the upper layer of the skin removing the dead skin cells, which initiate new healthy skin cells, and the production of collagen. The WISHPro Peel Exfoliator treatment capsule uses a round Silicone scrub agent to gently remove the dead skin. Because they are perfectly round, they will not re-block the skin. The treatment capsule also contains sweet almond oil, with moisturizes the skin and Vitamin E which neutralizes damaging free radicals, it is an antioxidant and helps repair your skin during the process. Together with the Magnetic Pulse Technology Head and the Peel Exfoliator capsule, you will leave your treatment with your skin feeling smooth and rejuvenated.

Let’s just answer the question that is running in your brain,“Who uses Pinterest?”
According to the Pew Internet Research Center, women dominate Pinterest. Now, answer my question, who dominates your spa or salon? Women
I found this infographic on Mashable, if you look at the stats and demographics you will see that your “customer” is right there, spending time on one of the fastest growing, popular, traffic sending sites.
Why use Pinterest?
- Let’s go back to the stats and remind you that it is the fastest growing social network today.
- You can use Pinterest to link pictures back to your website – this is great for your SEO.
- You can promote your products and your services.
Now the question is how do you use Pinterest as a tool to help you market your spa or salon?
Fill in your profile include links to your website, and use the new business profile layout
Create boards that will cause an emotional response from your client. Your boards should emulate your spa’s vision and a healthy lifestyle. The images that you pin of your services and products should be high quality and of course link back to your website, you can include your URL in the description of each pin. Create a board of weekly specials that you can update with a new pin every week that includes in the description all the details on the special.
Here are some examples of spas that have created great Pinterest Boards:
Remember that Pinterest is a social network, and social etiquette is rule number one. Repin, like and comment on other users photos. It demands up-keep; schedule time a few times a week to refresh your boards. If you are on Facebook and Twitter, post and tweet about your new boards and pins.

You have chosen your name – your location and the style of spa/salon that you want; now it is time to choose the right equipment for your new business. With so much competition in the spa/salon arena today, your choice of innovative, cutting edge treatments and equipment can make the difference between making it and breaking it!
Which services are you going to offer?
- Hot tubs
The first item on the agenda is to know exactly how much space you have in every treatment room. Make a list of supplies that will have to go into each room, which equipment, how many people will work in that room and if the room is multifunctional.
When designing the spa/salon make sure that you know which rooms will need plumbing, extra ventilation and of course electrical sockets for all the equipment.
Spa / Salon Equipment Budget
Before digging into your budget, you should do your homework. Check out spa equipment suppliers online and off. Always check the supplier’s reputation, not only price. What service contracts they offer warranties, delivery times, etc. Is it better to buy, rent or lease equipment? Tip: don’t choose only by the best price!
If you are ordering a lot of equipment at once, try to find a supplier that has many of the items on your list to get a better deal.
A lot of the spa equipment is very big, however today you can find smaller machines that do the same job and are much more visually appealing to your customers. All of the equipment should be ergonomically compliant, comfortable for your customers, easy to use and clean for your staff. Everything in your spa should be looked at from the point of view of the customer. Remember your customers are coming to be pampered and to be cared for, the ambiance of the treatment rooms is a major factor for return customers.
Try the equipment that you want to purchase. Make sure that there are demos that you can take part in and that the supplier’s hold courses on updated treatments using their equipment

Everywhere you go a new “spa” is opening. However, which spa or salon is the right one for you?
First, you must ask yourself, what do you want to do at the spa or salon? Are you going by yourself or with a friend or your partner? Are you going to relax or are you going for a specific treatment?
More questions you should ask yourself before booking at your local spa:
- How long do you have to spend in the spa?
- What is your budget?
- Are a manicure and pedicure on your list of must dos?
- Do you want a massage – do you know the difference between massages offered? If you have aches and pains in your back, a message can bring you relief.
- Do you want a facial – will it be a one timer or do you want to make it a regular part of your personal care. There are many types of skin care treatments, from cleaning facials, anti-aging treatments, BOTOX, and instant facelift.
- Have you considered a body wrap?
- How about acupuncture?
Once you answer these questions then you can start choosing the right spa to visit.
Ask around, ask your friends which spa they love, ask on Facebook and I am sure that you will receive many suggestions. Search on the internet; see what kind of reviews various establishments have received.
Once you have decided, book your spa treatment as early as possible, most spas fill up quickly. Wear comfortable clothing, even though most spas will give you a luxurious robe to wear, but when finish it is great to wear nice loose soft clothing. Arrive for your appointment around 15 minutes before your scheduled time. This will give you time to ask questions and fill in any questionnaires or required forms. This is also the time to ask questions or let the spa know if there is any medical information that they should know about, such as surgeries and allergies. We don’t recommend that you eat a full meal before your visit to the spa. Most places will offer you aromatic tea and juice and healthy snacks.
Tip – don’t forget to tip your spa specialist, aesthetician or other professionals that care for you during your visit!
Share your spa tips with us!

One of the ongoing topics in our blog will be all about customer service and care. When it comes down to it, there is nothing, but nothing more important than customer service. Let’s face it, there are great aestheticians, spas and salons out there who know their stuff. They know how to deal with anybody and everybody’s needs. Therefore, if your client is not happy about the way you treated them – they will be out your door and in through somebody else’s. They’re not coming back. We want to help you, make sure that your customers stay with you. Actually, we want to help you turn your customers into your very own brand advocates.
What Is A Brand Advocate?
According to Webopedia, “a brand advocate is a person, or customer who talks favorably about a brand or product, and then passes on positive word-of-mouth (WOM) messages about the brand to other people.”
How to create a strong crew of brand advocates?
- First, you must offer a solution to your customers. Every business must answer their customers pain or problems, if they don’t or can’t you don’t have a customer.
- Superb customer service and care.
- Ask them to share their experiences.
With and without Social Media
Most of your clients have one or more social media network account, probably most are on Facebook, some might be on Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn or write a blog. Are you there too? It will make it much easier to let them do their job as brand advocates if you have a web and social network presence that they can link to.
Who is a typical active brand advocate?
They are your customers.
- They are social. They like to use social networks such as Facebook and Twitter
- They want to be considered experts
- They want to help others. They love to share information with people that they don’t know
- Some of them have a blog
- They like to discuss personal care products
- They like to discuss child care and support
- Brand advocates use “recommending” as a form of relaxing!
- Love sharing great experiences
You want them on your team. What is their motivation? Again, we go back to great service and a fabulous experience. According to eMarketers, brand advocates are motivated by one of two things:
- Good experiences with a product or service
- A desire to help others
It is all about a centuries’ old marketing method – word of mouth. People like to talk over lunch, coffee with friends, on the phone, or on social networks. People love to talk about good and bad things. Give them what to talk about, make sure they walk out of your establishment with a smile on their face.
